Students are tested for reading with National testing called Running Records.

Running Records are one of the most authentic National assessments for reading.
It test students in over 5 areas related to reading skills including comprehension.
 
National average reading growth using Running Records is 6 levels in one academic year.
California average reading growth using Running Records is 2 levels in one academic year.
 
Silicon Valley Academy Average Reading Growth 2008-2009 for Kindergarten - 3rd grade was 15 levels growth in one academic year!

Kinder/1st Grade== 3rd Grade reading level

2nd /3rd Grade ==6th Grade reading level

4th Grade == 7.6th grade reading level

5th Grade == 8.6th grade reading level

6th Grade == 9th grade reading level and above
